## Summary

To give a Yeastar P-Series PBX a Kenyan number, claim a Sautikit number (KES 116/month including VAT), add a device under the number's **SIP & Devices** tab, then in Yeastar go to **Extension and Trunk → Trunk → Add** and create a **Register Trunk**: **Transport** UDP, **Hostname/IP** `sip.sautikit.com`, **Port** `5080`, **Domain** `sip.sautikit.com`, and your generated username in **Username** and **Authentication Name** with the generated **Password**. Add an inbound and an outbound route that use the trunk, and every extension on the PBX can call through that number.

## What you need

- **A Sautikit number.** KES 116 a month including VAT, no setup fee, live in seconds from the console or the API. Inbound calls are free; outbound calls cost KES 3.00 a minute, billed per second.
- **A Yeastar P-Series PBX** (appliance or cloud edition) with administrator access to its web portal and internet access from the PBX.
- **Extensions already set up** on the PBX for the phones that should use the line.

## Get your SIP details from Sautikit

In the [Sautikit console](https://app.sautikit.com), open **Numbers**, pick the number, go to the **SIP & Devices** tab and click **+ Add device**. Label it "Yeastar PBX". The PBX counts as one device: it registers once and shares the line with its own extensions. Sautikit shows you:

| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Server | `sip.sautikit.com` |
| Port | `5080` |
| Transport | UDP |
| Username | generated, for example `ep3f9a1c2b4d5e6f7a8b9c` |
| Password | generated |

If you lose the password, click **SIP setup** on the device's row to see the details again.

The API creates the same credential. The response carries `username`, `password`, `host`, `port`, `transport` and `realm`:

```bash
curl -s -X POST "https://api.sautikit.com/v1/numbers/$NUMBER_ID/sip-credentials" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SAUTIKIT_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"label": "Yeastar PBX"}'
```

## Yeastar trunk settings

| Yeastar field | Value |
|---|---|
| Name | Any name, for example `Sautikit` |
| Trunk Status | Enabled |
| Select ITSP Template | General |
| Trunk Type | Register Trunk |
| Transport | UDP |
| Hostname/IP | `sip.sautikit.com` |
| Port | `5080` |
| Domain | `sip.sautikit.com` |
| Username | your generated username |
| Authentication Name | your generated username (the same value) |
| Password | your generated password |
| Enable Outbound Proxy | off |

Yeastar has a separate **Port** box next to **Hostname/IP**. It must say **5080**, not 5060. A trunk left on 5060 never registers, and it is the most common mistake.

Choose **Register Trunk**, not **Account Trunk**. Yeastar uses a register trunk when the PBX signs in to a provider, which is what happens here. An account trunk is the other direction, for a device that signs in to the PBX.

## Steps in Yeastar

1. Sign in to the PBX web portal as an administrator.
2. Go to **Extension and Trunk → Trunk** and click **Add**.
3. In the basic section, enter a **Name**, set **Trunk Status** to **Enabled** and **Select ITSP Template** to **General**.
4. In the detailed section, set **Trunk Type** to **Register Trunk** and fill in **Transport**, **Hostname/IP**, **Port**, **Domain**, **Username**, **Authentication Name** and **Password** from the table above. Leave **Enable Outbound Proxy** off.
5. Optionally, on the **DIDs/DDIs** tab, enter your Kenyan number so it is recorded against the trunk.
6. Save and apply. Back on **Extension and Trunk → Trunk**, the trunk's status icon shows a check mark when it is registered.
7. **Add an inbound route** that uses the Sautikit trunk and sends calls to an extension, ring group or IVR. The trunk carries one number, so the route does not need to filter by DID.
8. **Add an outbound route** that uses the Sautikit trunk for the dial patterns you want (for example all numbers starting with `0` or `+254`), and give the extensions that may call out permission to use it.

Whatever outbound caller ID you set in Yeastar, Sautikit presents the number the credential belongs to. That keeps calls from showing a number you do not own.

## Make a test call

From an extension on the PBX, dial your own mobile number through the outbound route. Your mobile should show your Sautikit number. Then call the Sautikit number from your mobile and check it reaches the destination in your inbound route.

## Troubleshooting

**The trunk never registers.** Check **Port** is 5080 and **Transport** is UDP. Check **Hostname/IP** and **Domain** are both `sip.sautikit.com` with no `sip:` prefix. Then check the PBX can reach the internet.

**Registration fails on authentication.** Retype the password: in the Sautikit console, click **SIP setup** on the device's row and copy it again. **Username** and **Authentication Name** must both be the generated username, not the phone number.

**The trunk registered but another device on the same number dropped off.** Each credential is for one device. Do not reuse the PBX's credential in a softphone or desk phone. Add a separate device on the Sautikit number for anything else.

**Incoming calls do not reach an extension.** The trunk is registered but no inbound route matches it. Check the inbound route lists the Sautikit trunk.

**Outgoing calls fail with the trunk registered.** Check the outbound route includes the Sautikit trunk and the dial pattern matches what you are dialling, and that your Sautikit wallet has credit. Top up with M-Pesa or card.

## FAQ

### Is Sautikit a SIP trunk for Yeastar?

Yes, in the register-trunk sense: the Yeastar PBX signs in to Sautikit with a username and password and uses your Sautikit number for incoming and outgoing calls. See [Use Sautikit as a SIP trunk](/developers/guides/use-sautikit-as-a-sip-trunk) for how this works with any PBX.

### Why does the trunk need port 5080?

Sautikit's SIP server listens on port 5080. Most SIP equipment assumes 5060, the common default, so check the **Port** box says 5080 before you save.

### Can the phones on my PBX call each other without using the trunk?

Yes. Calls between extensions stay on the Yeastar PBX and never touch Sautikit, so they cost nothing on Sautikit.

### What does it cost?

The number is KES 116 a month including VAT with no setup fee. Incoming calls are free. Outgoing calls are KES 3.00 a minute, billed per second from when the call connects, paid from a prepaid KES wallet.

### Do I still need a PBX?

Only if you want one. Sautikit numbers can [forward calls](/developers/guides/forward-calls-and-voicemail) to several phones with voicemail, and desk phones can register directly (see [Connect a Grandstream phone](/developers/guides/connect-grandstream-phone)).

## Staff without desk phones

Staff who are not at a desk can use [SautiKit Phone](/phone), which needs no SIP setup: sign in and the number works. It runs on the [web](https://phone.sautikit.com), [Android](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sautikit.phone) and [Windows](https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9mxvnklz324k), with iOS and macOS in [beta on TestFlight](https://testflight.apple.com/join/sYaGFBDv).
